The best Boulder photoshoot locations

With busy season getting ready to begin, I thought it would be the perfect time to share my favorite spots for shoots in Boulder. There is such a wide variety to choose from in the area, and I always go location scouting to find the best spots for your photoshoot for the time of year and month, but below are a few to have in consideration. These are just a handful my current favorites! Stay tuned for my go-to spots for photoshoots outside of the Boulder area.

South Mesa Trailhead

Located close to Eldorado Springs, this spot has a wide variety of options to choose from, which has made it a hot spot for photographers in the Boulder area. Beautiful mountain backdrops, fences, wildflowers, a bridge, a barn structure are all here and results are always amazing here!

Chautauqua Park

If you’re looking for photos with the Flatirons in the background, this is it. Sunrises here are amazing, and bonus if it’s the time of year where the wildflowers are in bloom. The only downside is it’s a popular trailhead so there will be crowds. To avoid the crowds, sunrise is your best bet.

Shanahan Ridge Trail and neighborhood

Shanahan Ridge Trailhead has more of a forest feel, of course with the mountains behind it. The wildflowers are in full bloom usually in late May/early June there and if the timing is right it feels like a fairytale land. Fairview High School is down the street as well, and the views behind Fairview are hidden gems especially in the fall!

South Boulder Creek Trail

This spot has become one of my favorites of late. It’s an easy walk to open fields with a vast view of the mountains and Flatirons behind. Bonus when the fields bloom full of Queen Ann’s Lace! There isn’t much shade so timing is key here.

NCAR

NCAR has it all - beautiful mountain backdrops, fences, fields, trails. It’s easy parking and an easy walk to so much variety for your photoshoot.
